Introduction

Welcome to the FleetPulse Base/+ Preventive Maintenance Checklist for FleetPulse-enabled trailers. Use this guide any time you are performing a PM or troubleshooting the wired FleetPulse Base/+ system. A Base/+ system can be identified by the presence of the FleetPulse Base/+ gateway on the nose of the trailer (see fig 1).

Step 1: Inspect the Base Gateway and the Connector Harness

  • Approach the front of the vehicle wheregateway is mounted and inspectFleetPulse telematics gateway box, connector, and wiring.
    1. Ensure there is no damage or wear.
    2. Ensure all parts are connected and secure.
    3. Ensure the connector blue collar is inlocked position (pushed up towards the box).

Step 2: Connect 13V 7-way power to the trailer nose box

  • Power up the gateway by connectingtractor engine-on (alternator) power to7-way trailer nose box.
    • Center blue pin (Aux.) power must be12.7V or above.
    • Using a mobile 7-way powering unit isacceptable in powering up the trailer nosebox. Ensure Aux. Voltage is above 12.7V.

Step 3: Quality Check Reporting Data

  • Visually check the lighting sequence on the gateway.
    • The red light will blink or go solid depending on the state of the internal battery.
    • Yellow, Green, and Blue lights should blink, then go solid.
    • Device Backup Battery

NOTE: When the gateway's red LED is flashing, the backup battery of the device is low and charging. Keep the power connected to the trailer nose box until the red LED turns solid (when the battery level is >= 6.8V, the red LED turns solid).

  • Trailer needs to be parked outside and near good cellular and GPSconnectivity.
