FleetPulsePRO PMI Steps
- Check Untethered Data — 2 minutes
- Inspect Gateway, Wiring & Sensors — 14 minutes
- Check Tethered Data — 2 minutes
Total Time: 18 minutes
1. Check Untethered Data
Untethered data is reported when the trailer is either:
- Not connected to a 7-way electrical cord for power, or
- Connected to a 7-way electrical cord but not receiving 13 or more volts.
Example of good untethered data:
- Sensor Connectivity Good: All sensors are reporting good as of the last time the trailer was tethered.
- Tether Status: Last time PRO reported tether status.
- Untethered: Last time the trailer was tethered and receiving power.
- Location: Location and last time PRO reported location data.
- Trailer Battery: Last time PRO reported battery status.
- Odometer: Last time PRO reported hub mileage status from tethered data.
- ABS: Last time PRO reported ABS status from tethered data.
- Tire Inflation System: Last time PRO reported TIS status from tethered data.
- Lights: Last time PRO reported lamp status from tethered data.
- Load Status: Last time PRO reported load status from tethered data.
- Loaded: The PRO load sensor detected weight when last tethered, and the door sensor has since detected an opening, indicating the weight may have changed.
- Doors: Last time PRO reported door status.
2A. Inspect Gateway, Cable & Power Up
Approach the front of the vehicle where the gateway is mounted and inspect the FleetPulse telematics gateway box, connector, and wiring.
- The gateway should be mounted in an upright, vertical position and fastened to the front wall with double-sided adhesive.
- Ensure there is no damage or wear on the gateway or connecting harness.
- Ensure all parts are fastened and the gateway plug "blue collar" is in the locked position (pushed up toward the gateway).
Power up the gateway by connecting tractor engine-on (alternator) power to the 7-way trailer nose box.
- Center blue pin (Aux.) power must be 12.7V or above.
- Using a mobile 7-way powering unit is acceptable for powering up the trailer nose box. Ensure Aux. voltage is above 12.7V.
Supply emergency/supply air (red gladhand) to the trailer and fully charge the pneumatic system.
2B. Inspect Battery & Charging
Approach the side of the vehicle where the battery is mounted underneath, near the landing gear, and inspect the PRO battery and connecting wiring.
- The battery should be secure with its plastic cover and mounting brackets.
- Remove the battery from its cradle and cover. Clean corrosion if present and load test the battery.
- Wiring from the solar panel should be connected to the battery terminals, sealed with heat shrink, and the fuse checked good. (The solar panel fuse may be blown even when the battery is reporting good data.)
- Wiring from the nose box should be connected to the battery terminals and secured. (The battery fuse, located inside the cover, is good if data is reporting.)
Example: a trailer that has been untethered for 120 days can still report Sensor Connectivity Good, with the PRO battery charged at 14.4V via solar — a best-case scenario.
2C. Inspect Door Sensor & Data Reporting
Approach the rear of the vehicle and inspect the rear door sensor magnet.
- Swing doors have a bracket mounted at the top — ensure the bracket is secured.
- Roll-up doors have a magnet near an interior panel that aligns with the sensor when closed.
- Wiring from the door sensor should be secured and tucked away from moving parts.
Test the door sensor by opening or closing the rear door to activate the sensor and confirm it reports data to the FleetPulse platform in real time.
Note: Trailers with multiple doors can be spec'd with multiple door sensors. Follow this inspection step for each additional door.
3. Check Tethered Data
Tethered data is reported when the trailer nose box's center auxiliary pin receives power.
Example of good tethered data:
- Sensor Connectivity Good: All sensors are reporting good via 5-minute tethered reporting.
- Tether Status: Tractor connection status and last time PRO reported tether status.
- Location: Location and last time PRO reported location data.
- Trailer Battery: Battery status and last time PRO reported battery data when tethered.
- Odometer: Hub mileage and last time PRO reported odometer data.
- ABS: ABS status and last time PRO reported ABS data.
- Tire Inflation System: Tire inflation status and last time PRO reported TIS data.
- Lights: Lamp status and last time PRO reported lighting data.
- Load Status: Load status and last time PRO reported weight data.
- Doors: Door status and last time PRO reported a door opened or closed.
