3.4. Preparation for Installation
Using 99% Isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag, thoroughly clean the area in which the panel and wire cover will be installed.
May need a putty knife to assist with the removal of any excess sealant or debris before installation.
Use a Scotch pride pad to lightly scour the roof.
Ensure that the area is clean and dry completely before moving to the next step.
3.5. Solar Panel Installation Location
- Locate the solar panel as close to the edge as possible without adherence being interfered with by the sealant on the edge of the roof of the trailer (forward roadside corner of the roof of the trailer) approximately 2 inches measuring from the edge sealant.
- Using a sharpie, outline the location of the panel to run a wire to a nose rail.
3.6. Drill 5/8 Hole Necessary For Installation
- Using a drill and 5/8 bit along with the sharpie mark drawn around the location.
-
After the hole is drilled, begin to feed wire through the hole for the continuation of the installation.
- Use electrical trap to tape the open terminals while running the cables through the trailer.
- Disconnect inline fuse holder prior to attempting to run wire through 5/8 hole.
- Using a drill and 5/8 bit along with the sharpie mark drawn around the location.
- Disconnect the inline fuse holder before attempting to run wire through 5/8 of the hole.
- Add a rivet clamp to hold the cable.
- Use wire loom to cover the wire.
3.7. Solar Panel Installation
- Carefully remove all the paper backing from the solar panel- Adhesive is quite strong; therefore, paper may tear around rivet area and be careful to remove all paper from adhesive side of panel.
- Use outline to carefully install panel
- Install from one end to the other carefully removing air bubbles from under panel as you install.
- Firmly press panel to rood to ensure proper adhesion.
3.8. Wire Cover Installation
- If 3M double tape pre-installed on button side of plastic cover flange.
- Peel off paper backing.
- Then remove tape altogether by rolling/wadding off the plastic with fingers
- Clean the bottom side of the plastic cover flange with denatured alcohol and the paper towel and let dry.
- Apply 2-part epoxy (Manus Flexweld 25) via double-barrel caulk gun and mixing nozzle to bottom side of plastic cover flange.
- Smooth out epoxy with disposable tongue depressor (or some other means) over entire flange surface.
- Use sharpie outline to position cover and gently press into place on roof sheet.
- Some epoxy will naturally ooze out of cover.
- Add approximately two pounds of weight to top of cover to retain pressure during epoxy curing.
- Cure for 3 hours indoors at room temperature (can work on wire routing at this time but beware weight on roof of trailer).
- After the epoxy cures, use a caulking gun and sealant to apply sealant around the cover, paying special attention to the area between the cover and the solar panel. This will assist in ensuring water resistance and maintaining water resistance.
3.9. Running the Solar Panel Wire To the Battery
- Use a drill and bit (size depending on the zip tie to be used) to drill holes no more than 2 ft apart and secure wires to back of plywood in front of trailer interior.
- You can use rivet clamp and run it through rails behind plywood for a safer direction
- Once wire is through the roof to the inside of trailer, Wires must be run through the floor of trailer to outside through the main beam
- Note: It is helpful to use fishing wire from outside of the trailer through the hole shown below, then attach wires to be routed using electrical tape and pull the wires through to the underside of the trailer.
- Wires are to be routed through the main beam conduit.
- Wires need to follow the path of the battery cable on the roadside.
3.10. Connecting the Solar Panel To the Battery.
- Remove the battery cover plate.
- Remove battery from battery box.
- Feed wires to the battery from the solar panel through the hole in the battery cover.
- Attach the inline fuse holder (red in color) to wire and reattach wires to battery (red to positive and black to negative terminals)
- Place battery inside cover.
- Slide battery and cover back into battery box and reinstall battery.

IMPORTANT NOTE
-
Before the device can transmit updates to the platform:
- It must be connected to at least 13V to power it on.
- It must establish a GPS fix and connect to a cellular network.
- Signal acquisition is highly dependent on the device’s location and the strength of GPS and cellular signals in the area.
- If any sensors do not report, inspect the cabling and device for damage.
- Contact support@fleetpulse.com if you have further questions.

8. Product Maintenance
FleetPulse recommends checking the following items every 12 months:
Data Quality Check
All Sensors should report as expected on the FleetPulse platform (Dashboard). Connectivity Status should be green and displayed as “Good”. If any sensors are not reporting, please review all cabling and connecting pins for damage or corrosion. Contact support@fleetpulse.com for troubleshooting help.
Inspect PRO Gateway and Wiring
Check for physical damage on PRO Gateway and connecting cable on vehicle. Check connection to cable and ensure blue collar connector is in “Locked” position or pushed up.
Clean Solar Panel and Inspect Wiring
Inspect solar panel for damage or wear and wipe clean with a dry cloth. A 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water can be used to clean the solar panel. Inspect wiring from solar panel to battery for looseness, abrasions or chaffing. Solar panel should be secure to roof of trailer and wiring should be secure, away from moving parts, and have no wear present.
Inspect PRO Wiring Under Trailer
Inspect accessible or exposed wiring, connections, and secureness to components from front to rear of trailer for looseness, abrasions, chaffing or corrosion. All wiring should be secure, connectors completely connected, and no wear or corrosion present throughout.
Inspect and Test Battery
Inspect battery brackets for looseness and battery cover for damage. Battery can be removed and load tested without solar panel wiring connected to terminals. Ensure 7-way J560 plug power is disconnected when testing battery. Battery should test in good condition; terminals clean, no corrosion present, and wiring terminals fastened appropriately.
Inspect Door Sensor
Confirm door sensor hardware on door and trailer is fastened and not moveable. Inspect sensor wiring for looseness, abrasions or chaffing. Door sensor wiring should be secure, away from moving door parts, and have no wear present.
9. Warranty
Disclaimer
Used parts must be returned within 30 days of FleetPulse or the manufacturer shipping new replacement parts. If the used part is not returned on time, the company requesting a warranty will be billed for a new part, including shipping and handling.
The customer is responsible for paying the shipping costs of used parts.
FleetPulse or its supplier manufacturers reserve the right to deny any claims if parts are found to be functional, past the warranty period, damaged due to customer abuse, failed because of operational hazards, disassembled, or due to other non-OE causes.
