Troubleshooting Guide

Backup Battery Notice

The Base device backup battery is a 7V unit designed to last approximately 7 days (fully charged) before dropping below the minimum threshold required for reporting.

The backup battery must remain above 6V for the device to report location once every 24 hours when the trailer is not tethered (connected to an external power supply of at least 13V).

  1. Approach the front of the vehicle where the FleetPulse telematics gateway is mounted. Visually inspect the gateway device, connector, and wiring for any signs of damage or wear.
  2. Verify all components are properly connected and secure.
    1. Ensure the connector’s blue collar is in the locked position (pushed up toward the gateway).
  3. Power up the gateway by connecting the tractor’s engine-on (alternator) power to the 7-way trailer nose box.
    1. The center pin (Auxiliary power) must read 12.7V or higher.
  4. Observe the gateway’s LED lighting sequence:
    1. Red, Yellow, and Green LEDs should activate sequentially.
    2. This indicates successful power-up and data service restoration.
  5. Ensure the trailer is outdoors with a clear view of the sky (no overhead obstructions) for better connectivity.
  6. If the light sequence does not start:
    1. Unlock the connector by pulling the blue collar down and unplug it.
    2. Test voltage across the Ground and Battery Power terminals on the gateway harness plug.
    3. Voltage should match the reading from the 7-way trailer nose box.
