Check Untethered Data

Untethered data is reported when the trailer has been motionless for more than 30 minutes. A good untethered reading looks like this:

2a. Inspect Gateway & Wiring

Access the rear of the vehicle where the gateway is mounted on the roadside wall and inspect the CargoView telematics gateway box and wiring connections.

• The gateway should be mounted in the upper left inside corner area, parallel to the rear door, vertical, with camera lenses facing the trailer front wall.
• Ensure there is no damage or wear on the gateway, lenses, or connecting harnesses.
• Ensure all parts are fastened, connecting wires installed and tightened, and the gateway power plug “CON 1” is in the locked position (pushed inward and turned clockwise until the coupler clicks or the dot indicators on the plug and cord port are aligned). Perform a “pull test”: gently grip the connecting cord and pull down with slightly more force than an arm weighs to confirm it is connected properly.

Note: If the CON 1 connection is not in the locked position, white markings on the plug indicate it was pushed in but not turned clockwise.

2b. Inspect Battery & Charging

CargoView runs on an internal battery and charges via the connected solar panel and taillight harness.

• Power up the gateway by connecting the nose box 7-way power and activating the tail lamps.
• LEDs on the device activate to indicate battery charging from the taillight or solar panel, depending on the higher voltage source. LED 5 displays overall battery condition.

A good CargoView battery reading shows Sensor Connectivity Good and a device battery voltage around 4.2V (the ideal battery level).

2c. Inspect Door Sensor & Data Reporting

Inspect the rear door sensor and magnet.

• Swing doors have a magnet mounted on the door and a sensor mounted on the trailer rail.
• Roll-up doors have the sensor mounted on the top panel of the door.
• Test the door sensor by opening or closing the rear door. It should activate the sensor and report data to the FleetPulse platform in real time.

Note: Trailers with multiple doors can be spec'd with multiple door sensors. Follow this inspection step for each additional door. If the door sensor is not reporting correctly, see the Door Sensor Troubleshooting guide linked in the platform.

3. Check Tethered Data and Cargo Image

After opening or closing the rear door, all sensors, including the camera, report data. Once the trailer starts moving, Tether Status changes to Tethered and all sensors except the camera report data.

Note: The Cargo Camera timestamp may differ from other sensors, since it reports on a 6-hour cycle or the last time the door was opened or closed. Keep all objects clear of the camera lens.
